State and Local Planning for Energy (SLOPE) Tool
State and Local Planning for Energy (SLOPE) Tool
Purpose:
This tool, created by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), incorporates energy efficiency data and renewable energy opportunities to improve data-driven state and county energy planning across the United States.
Description:
The State and Local Planning for Energy (SLOPE) Tool has both a spatial and temporal component. The tool contains the following data sets at both a state and county resolution across the United States: Energy Consumption, Demographics, Energy Efficiency, Commercial Buildings, Renewable Energy Technical Generation Potential and the Cost of Energy. Spatially, the data is displayed in the form of a density map at either a county or state resolution. The temporal component of the tool allows users to project the data sets out to 2050 to improve the accuracy of energy planning in jurisdictions across the country.
