Purpose: 
The Weatherization Assistance Program reduces energy costs for low-income households through weatherization materials and education.
Description: 
The WAP works with local subrecipients to provide funds to low-income households for the purpose of conducting energy audits and installing weatherization measures to increase energy efficiency and thus reduce costs. The funds come from federal grants made by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
